Samuel Smith's Organically Produced Lager Beer
|Member Rating:||Reviews:||1||Write Review|
Everything about the idea of this beer is appealing: An English made lager that's produced with organic ingredients. The implementation of said idea is even better. Samuel Smith's Lager pours a clear straw yellow color with a small but lingering crown of white foam. The aromas it gives off are all quite mild, but emerge showing mild floral English hop character and some mild yeasty fresh risen dough. Taking a sip, the mouthfeel is noticeably creamy, much more so than a typical lager, but it's pleasantly so. Grass, flowers, and honey are all present on the palate, which cascade through until the crisp finish that isn't very dry. This is quite the flavorful lager. It has a sophistication and calmness that mass marketed lagers do not.
Beer Description from Brewery
Brewed with great care using only organic malted barley, organic hops, medium-soft water and a bottom-fermenting yeast; matured at low temperatures to bring out its delicate flavour and soft hop-character finish. The cold maturation period allows the bottom-fermenting yeasts to secondary ferment and improve this lager's flavour, purity and condition. 8 beer low res sizedBest served at about 44F (7C).
