Samuel Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout
|Member Rating:||Reviews:||1||Write Review|
Even the Brits can get behind a chocolate oriented stout. It's not just an American phenomena. Here, Samuel Smith introduces their beer to gently roasted organic chocolate malt and real organic cocoa to create a unique tasting environment. However, this is not your usual chocolate stout: it's not big, it's not cloying, it's simply a solid stout that highlights fresh cocoa flavors. The beer pours almost black with hints of cola brown at the far edges of the glass. Aromas of shaved chocolate, cream, and cocoa powder waft out from the glass. The flavor is powerful with a hit of chocolate that finishes off clean with a strong cocoa powder character to it. The body is considerably light, given that its alcohol by volume is only 5%, which is low for both a regular stout let alone a chocolate one. For those not looking to fill up with a huge imperial stout and still want their chocolate fix, this is it.
Beer Description from Brewery
Brewed with well water (the original well, sunk in 1758, is still in use with the hard water is drawn from 85 feet underground), the gently roasted organic chocolate malt and organic cocoa impart a delicious, smooth and creamy character, with inviting deep flavours and a delightful finish - this is the perfect marriage of satisfying stout and luxurious chocolate.
