This fantastic beer won Gold at the 2014 World Beer Cup in the IPA category. Brewed with a pleasing dosing of Citra and Amarillo hops balanced by a Vienna malt and Wheat backbone, Hop, Drop ‘n Roll deserves the honor of the 2014 Gold.
This hoppy juicy, IPA is dangerously easy drinking at 7.2% (ABV). The beer pours from the can a bright copper color. Hop Drop (as it is affectionately called) is translucent and inviting. With a bone white head, Hop Drop’s lacing sticks along the side of the glass as the creamy head makes its way down to the bottom of the glass.
The Citra and Amarillo hops produce aromas of apricot, peach, mango, and tangerine. With a light to medium body, Hop, Drop ‘n Roll finishes crisp and dry—you can’t help but to come back for more. The flavor of the hop profile is a wonderful burst of grapefruit and tropical notes: papaya, kiwi, and passion fruit. The hop forward flavor is balanced by the Vienna malt backbone. Best served at 38-42°F and consumed fresh, this IPA deserves the recognition it has earned.
