Green Flash West Coast
|Member Rating:||Reviews:||1||Write Review|
As with anything Green Flash, there is bound to be a lot of hops going on here, and especially hoppy ones with a name like 'West Coast IPA'. The angled and bold font on the bottle emphasises the quickness and intensity that is about to be experienced. The beer pours with an opaque copper hue with a tight off-white crown. Aroma enters as citrusy, grapefruit, and the faintest hints of pine. However, on the flavor is where the rush hits. Enormous amounts of crazy bitter hop flavors are present: super dank, resiny, and pine forward. It almost becomes unapproachable, but hangs on with enough balance of malt backbone to keep it just this side of too much. At times it's an enamel-stripping experience, and flirts with the line with every sip. Think of it like your favorite spicy hot sauce. The bitterness lingers for ages, probably verging on minutes. If there were a king of this style, this beer would be in the court's inner circle battling for the crown.
Beer Description from Brewery
As craft beer pioneers, we embarked on an expedition to brew the benchmark West Coast IPA. We ventured into the unknown and struck gold, discovering a tantalizing menagerie of hops. Simcoe for tropical and grapefruit zest, Columbus for hop pungency, Centennial for pine notes, Citra for citrus zest and Cascade for floral aroma are layered throughout the brewing process. West Coast IPA exemplifies the Green Flash spirit of adventure and discovery.
