Dead Guy Ale by Rogue Oregon Brewed Review - Beer bottle and glass

Dead Guy Ale by Rogue

Where it's Brewed: Rogue Brewery (Brewer's on the Bay)

Style: Helles Bock / Maibock

ABV: 6.50%

Oregon brewed, Dead Guy Ale by Rogue is a hit!  This beer is well balanced with extreme drinkability from start to end.  Although, after drinking Santa's Private Reserve Ale, which seemed to be excessively bitter, I almost reconsidered my affinity for Rogue beers.  Lucky for me this Dead Guy happened upon my shopping list and now has a frequent hangout... My refrigerator.

I purposefully poured for a strong head and I'm glad I did. Sitting on top of the sweet caramel malt mixture was a whipped cream like topping slightly dense in texture. The head is off white and beer-in-glass is a deep amber orange. Taking only a few sips left my glass laced with thin foam rings from the head.

The flavor is on par and carries characteristics of some of my favorite beers. Dead Guy Ale by Rogue offers an experience of caramel malt and fruity yeast with minimal hops. The mouthfeel is slightly light yet wonderfully full flavored. Dead Guy Ale is medium bodied and well balanced with hints of candied yam and other select crisp sweet flavors.

I'm a proponent of balanced ingredients, textures, flavors and colors that when combined, make a great beer come together. Don't be turned off by the name and cold looking skeleton on the bottle. This is one dead guy you'll want to have around.
