Cuvee Van De Keizer Blauw (Blue)

Similar to the Van de Keizer Rood, this black labelled brew makes itself distinct from its brethren only through a long blue sash that crosses the label. Blauw pours a distinct murky dark brown, almost raisin infused color. That makes sense, when you consider the raisin forward aroma. Mincemeat, prunes, and various dark dried stone fruits emerge on the nose. Upon sipping, it hits with a sweetness and booziness that are not masked, like a fruit that has matured completely and has begun to ferment naturally. Lots of plum and raisin flavors linger on through each sip with a lot of Belgian yeast presence. It's a decadent European dessert, with a hint of sulfuric molasses. It works on the level of port as a type of beer night cap, because of its heavy and prolific presence.
